I love the shrimp and grits. The portion was huge and was served with their horseradish sauce, which you really don't need because the meat has a ton of flavor! We have an immediate opening for an experienced server. Tonight's visit was not so delicious. We realize many places have similar policies, but if you are going to mandate payment for service for 4 adults and two kids, the service should be good, if not outstanding. For the food you get, the prices are just too high. We came with four adults and two five year olds. The potatoes were also very good. The shrimp was so tender and tasty. As a past server I understand there are times when you might take a while to get to a table restroom breaks etc Since our server wasn't one of the many people who just walked by us while we waited we assumed this was the case for him. I was expecting more for the price. My wife had shrimp, our friend had the sirloin tips and I had the grilled scallops along with a trip to the salad bar. I loved the rice but didn't like the taste of the beef tips apparently marinated in something. Tucked away in a small, neighborhood shopping center, the place appears recently renovated. The wooded bar area felt alot like a British pub. Baked potato was par, should've definitely gone with the fries! Parking was a bit odd-- the lot seemed to congested and cars going the wrong way made things dangerous. The sauce accompanying the tuna was a perfect complement.
And picking a salad dressing was a guessing game since half of the dressings weren't labeled. Our daughter ordered a grilled chicken breast that was dry and greasy. By far one of the best times I have had in a long time. The chocolate peanut butter pie is a great desert. This is our second visit to this restaurant.
Some one posted that the flame would suffer if an outback or roadhouse opened. I can't wait to come back! The Flame' s steak is great but Kathy's lasagna, the soup and their chicken with spinach rocks Long time Diner. Just plug them into a standard electric outlet to start them up! Service there has been very good so long as you do not go on a super busy night like Friday or Saturday. From the outside we thought we would give it a miss but my husband had just gotten off a plane from England and we didn't want to mess around trying to find somewhere else. The atmosphere was pleasant-- a warm pub feel with interesting art work on the walls. Their supper menu is only a gigantic page, but does not have a lot to offer, which means they are good at what they do offer! The spot is a must stop the next time you are in Sanford.
